After dinner the liming truly starts – whoever said this was only a “day place” obviously never danced at one of Tobago’s fun nightspots.
Beyond these physical pleasures, Tobago cherishes a rich cultural legacy, ready for you to explore. In July, the Tobago Heritage Festival introduces visitors and our younger citizens to Tobago’s history, folklore, culture, and cuisine. Most people come to Tobago for natural peace and quiet, not the nightlife. But there is a thriving entertainment scene here, if some nocturnal excitement is what you crave. Nothing quite as sophisticated as you’ll find in New York or London – but definitely a whole lot of fun.
At many hotels there’s live music and other entertainment poolside every night, and there’s a lively bar and party scene in Tobago as well, centred in the south-west.
Karaoke at Diver’s Den is popular on Tuesday nights; on Wednesday evenings the landmark Golden Star hosts the talent contest Scouting for Talent. Both locals and visitors take part; mostly it’s singing and instrument-playing, but you’re also likely to see some unconventional talents (e.g. animal impersonation) on display. Can be unexpectedly enjoyable. A disco lasting into the wee hours follows the show.
Thursdays thru to Saturdays – the extended weekend – options really multiply. Many venues, including the Copra Tray, the Deep (seasonal) and the Lush offer live entertainment, from drumming to reggae to DJ’s. On Fridays the Love Shack, Petunia’s, and Robinson Crusoe’s at the Hilton Tobago are all popular with the after-work bunch. They attract a pleasantly mixed crowd, both mature and young, local and foreign, who usually stay late into the night.

This is one of the most important days in your life, so why not make it happen somewhere sublimely beautiful? Walking down the aisle is infinitely more memorable when the “aisle” is a golden beach, a ruined historic fort, or a sun-dappled glade set in lush rainforest.
